Fifteen minutes into the bushwhack above Upper Kintla Lake Brian straddled a knarly log that broke at the wrong time and ripped the rear out of his pants. Then on the way back down through the thick brush a wasp found that hole and stung him on the butt. They flushed a big bull elk out of the brush on the way up as well. Photo by Brian Kennedy. |

| After summiting Mt Jackson we stopped at 6400 feet to rest. This grizzly came up behind us to about 40 feet before we realized it was there. We quickly had 4 bear sprays and a camera at the ready.
