The Glacier Mountaineering Society has an agreement with Glacier National Park to place and maintain summit registers. To facilitate this project GMS is developing a database of summit registers in Glacier National Park. The database includes a list of Glacier summits and the status of the register and notebook. This will help us determine which summits need a register and which summits have full notebooks that need replacement. All members are requested to help in the database project. When you reach a summit in Glacier make a note the presence or absence of a register. If one is present, provide info on the condition of the register book and how full it is. Upon returning home from your climb E-mail this information to ?. As information is received it will be added to the database. The database was formerly posted on this page. Due to the increasing incidences of missing summit registers, even those recently placed, the database will be kept confidential. Please: Do not remove any summit register or notebook unless a replacement has been obtained from the Glacier Mountaineering Society and you have received instructions pertaining to returning the old register. Please, if the presence of a register on a summit offends you please ignore its presence and leave all registers in place. |
