Climbing at Logan Pass in 2026

Glacier National Park is instituting a 3 hour parking time limit at Logan Pass in 206 from July 1, 2026 through at least September 7, 2026. What does that mean for climbing in the Logan Pass area this summer? A three-hour window can let fast climbers get up and down Mt. Oberlin, but other climbs in the area will likely take more than three hours. The revamped shuttle system is designed to get people to Logan Pass for adventures taking longer than three hours. However, this year the shuttle is only for day trips and requires a reservation! There are also more limited stops. See all the details on the Park’s website.

What are the other options for a longer day in starting at Logan Pass?

Logan Pass before road is open for vehicles

  • Have someone drop you off (and pick you back up if you are planning on ending the day at Logan Pass).
  • Investigate alternate starting points for the trip
  • Climb in June before the three-hour limit goes in effect, or later in September
  • Take the shuttle and get back in time to catch the last one back down
  • Climb elsewhere in the Park

See the 2026 Shuttle Service page for more details about getting a shuttle reservation and shuttle times and stops.
